In 2016, the St. Basil Secondary School Alumni Award was created to celebrate the spirit of St. Basil Secondary School and to ensure that its legacy lives on for future generations.
The St. Basil Secondary School Alumni Award recognizes a graduating student at St. Mary’s College who has lived the SBSS motto, “to teach, to build, to serve.” In the spirit of St. Basil, this graduating student strives to follow the teachings of Christ, builds community and engages in actions that serve to help those in need.
Each year, a bursary of $100 is awarded to the recipient. He/she also has his/her name engraved on the St. Basil Secondary School Alumni Award plaque, which is proudly displayed in SILVER AND BLACK at St. Mary’s College.

As a member of the SBSS family—whether alumni, former staff, family member or friend—you are encouraged to get involved and to ensure that the spirit of St. Basil Secondary lives on through the SBSS Alumni Award.
Two ways that YOU can help:
1. Call St. Mary’s College at (705) 945-5540 for information about making a financial contribution to the SBSS Alumni fund. Every donation, no matter the size, will directly go to the SBSS Alumni Award.
2. Visit the CONTACT page to express your interest in meeting with other SBSS Alumni during the month of May or June to help select the next recipient of the St. Basil Secondary School Alumni Award. The recipient will be voted upon by the selection committee using a list of graduating students who have been nominated by current teaching staff and/or who have self-nominated.
For 24 years, the St. Basil Saints were known for their generosity and giving spirit. We are thankful for your consideration in continuing to give back through the legacy of St. Basil Secondary School via the SBSS Alumni group.
